Job Information

We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant or Post-doctoral Research Fellow to work on a research project funded by the UK Ministry of Defence. With the training and support provided, the successful candidate will research, implement solutions, and produce research papers in the area of drones, controls and artificial intelligence. He/she has access £124,000 worth of equipment to carry out these goals.

The current project is 9 months, and there is an opportunity of a >2 years second phase project if positive outcomes can be achieved. It is led by Dr Hubert Shum, who is the Director of Research and Innovation in the Department. He organized international conferences such as BMVC and ACM SIGGRAPH MIG, and is an Associate Editor of CGF and a Guest Editor of IJCV.

The job is based in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, located in a new £7m purposefully designed building. It is placed by the Times Higher Education World Ranking 2019 in the top 250-300 for computer science, and is one of the largest computer science departments in the UK.
